Is itunes neccesary to use 3utools? Is there an inoffical firmware to get out of the black screen of death problem? When i try to flash the only possible firmware it hangs always at 11%

Hallo, i have an ipad 4 wifi with the following problems. There is absolut nothing shown at the display. When i start 3utools it tells that the ipad is in dfu mode. When i than press home+power i recognize a sound disconnecting the device. I still hold home and release power button until dfu is show...
