Here Are Errors While Downgrading iOS 10 with Prometheus
Posted: 06 Jan 2017 15:48
Last week, a hacker master released a tool - Prometheus to downgrade on 64-bits iDevice. Apple has officially stop the signing of iOS 10.1 and iOS 10.1.1, but this tool could help users to downgrade (need to ave blobs).
However, after this tool released, many users meet some errors during the process. 3u Team has summarized the errors and give you some solutions.
Server error
Most users said that the processor error existed while using Prometheus. Some people thought that’s because Apple’s TTS sever logged off. Although we have no idea what caused this error, server or the code of this tool, tihmstar has already fixed this error in the latest version.
Segmentation error
The second most common error is segmentation error, that’s because macOS is lack of the support of OpenSSL. But this error has been fixed in the new version of Prometheus.
Touch ID on iOS 10.1.1
It would not downgrade SEP + baseband while restoring futurerestore, and it will replace the present version. That means if you restore to iOS 10.1.1, you are using iOS 10.2 SEP + baseband. It is thought that the delivery time of these two version is near, so there may not be any error. Users found that, although futurerestore could help to downgrade to 10.1.1, Touch ID is disable.
It annoys users so much that Touch ID is disable. Some features connected to Touch ID are disable, too. (Apple Pay needs Touch ID)
Luca Todesco said there may be a solution to this error, but after that, he has not released any comment about that. Tihmstar claimed that he would not offer any solution of this error.
In conclusion, after Prometheus released, there are many errors, but users still find this tool useful after get the solutions to fix these errors. But there is still no solution to solve Touch ID issue at present, some users are not willing to downgrade with the sacrifice of Touch ID.
TSSChecker
TSSCheck, the other tool of Tihmstar, has two serious errors.
Not compatible with iPhone 7 / Plus
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus use the mode which is different from 64-bits while creating nonce builder. This issue does not have any effect on other iDevices, but this means that all blobs saved from these two iDevices are invalid.
