How to make sense of this 3uTools "Manufacture Chart"? Are errors present?

Postby dan86dw » 29 Dec 2018 00:00

3uTools has a tutorial on decoding Apple serial numbers. Yet the chart seems to be off and I was hoping for clarification. I tried to post a link to the chart but this forum won't let me include a link in my post. The Tutorial I am referring to is titled "What Can You Read From Your iPhone Serial Number?" and it was posted by 3uTools on 2018-01-02 (7367).

Let's say a serial number begins with DQKW5. This would seem to indicate a manufacture date in the 1st half of 2018 (i.e., W) during the 5th week (i.e., 5). Yet the 3uTools chart gives a manufacture date of 7/29-8/4. Can someone explain this? 7/29-8/4 is the 5th week in the 2nd half of 2018. Am I interpreting the "W" to mean "1st half of 2018" incorrectly?

Nevermind, I see now that the 4th column represents the 2nd half of the year and the 3rd column represents the 1st half of the year.
