Strange problem with Ipad 2, cannot update to 9.3.5

I have bought an iPad 2 which was stuck in recovery mode. An iTunes restore does not work and I just found about 3uTools.

I have been able to restore using easy flash to 6.1.3. :) The iPad then can be updated to 8.4.1 OTA without a problem. 9.3.5 is then offered, which is downloaded, goes through the upgrade process and the iPad restarts with the 8.4.1 software and 9.3.5 available to download again.

Using easy flash with 9.3.5 it gets to 19% and then waits for about 7 minutes before failing and is back in recovery mode

Using pro flash with 6.1.3 works fine, with 9.3.5 it also fails, but only when the progress bar is almost at the far right, but the memory address counter does not increment.

Genuine cable, different USB ports used, the cable and PC have been used for iTunes restores without any similar problems.

Any suggestions, as the flash works every time on 6.1.3 and an OTA to 8.4.1 work fine it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue ???. It is an early iPad 2, comes up as model 2,1 2011 model

Thanks for any help

The errors that show up in iTunes are 14 and 4013 or 4014 I think.
In 3uTools it said something like unable to write / writing failed

You can take this as reference: http://www.3u.com/tutorial/articles/774/how-to-fix-error-9-4005-4013-or-4014-in-itunes-3utools But if you could not fix this, it could be hardware problem, you may need to contact Apple Support.

Thanks very much for the link and your help so far.

All the hardware side of things external to this ipad seem to be fine as there are no problems with another iPad I own.

The strange part is that I can write the 6.1.3 firmware without any problem. It will also download the OTA upgrade to 8.4.1 and run that upgrade. It's only when I try to move to 9.3.5 by either OTA or firmware flash that the upgrade fails.

I am wondering if there is some sort of partitioning change or additional hardware check built into 9.3.5 that might prevent the upgrade being allowed ??

3uTools is a nice tool, and TunesKit iOS System Recovery is also good. When your iPad is stuck in the recovery mode, or update failure, etc. you can try this one, which can help you fix all kinds of iOS system problems with the highest success rate. Maybe you can give it a try.

I'm going backwards with this iPad.
Tried to update to 9.3.5 again and it fails to complete. Never mind, I'll restore back to 6.1.3 like before and move forward to 8.4. That didn't work and now it does not boot at all, goes into itunes / reecovery mode on boot.

I am unable to flash to 6.1.3 anymore because (I think) Apple is no longer signing that version (even though 3utools says I can flash 6.1.3). I believe the shsh2 blobs are on the 3utools server and I have downloaded them, but in a plist file.

I have a dmg backup of the ipad. Is there any way I can force that onto the iPad, or force the flash of 6.1.3 ??
