Not possible to have network path as backup/restore path?

I have been trying many times to set the backup/restore location to be a network path.

I am able to select a path like \\myfilserver\3utoolsbackups but as soon as I try to start the backup I get an error message saying the "Backup failed" and the details of the error message does not help either:
"Backup failed (error code: -10000001)"

It is not possible to use mapped network drives either since those mappings are not even shown in the explorer window that pops up when I select "Change" in order to change the backup path.

Still having this issue even though I am on the latest version (2.56).

Anyone else who has managed to select a network path as their backup location?
